NO VACANCY
A Parsonage Project Feature Film
When a well-intentioned act of kindness by a young grieving widow sets off a sequence of consequences, it ultimately changes all of their lives and threatens to split a homeless family apart.
“No Vacancy" tells the emotionally affecting story of a woman whose grief over the loss of her family in an accident is partly assuaged by her efforts to help a homeless man and his children.
Although several films have dealt with the theme of how aiding a homeless person can prove beneficial for the do-gooder, "No Vacancy" uniquely explores the pain of loss from a woman’s point of view as well as the bond with others who have experienced devastating change with little societal understanding.
This well-written script offers a more nuanced examination of homelessness and the difficulties inherent in getting emotionally involved with the plight of strangers.
